Origin
Mazzano is one of Masi's single vineyard crus, a terraced hillside site near Negrar in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, Veneto. The vineyard has been known for quality wine since the 12th century.
Blend
Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, the traditional grapes of Valpolicella.
Vinification & Aging
The grapes are laid out to dry in traditional lofts through the winter using the Appassimento method, concentrating sugars, color and aromas. After fermentation the wine spends a long period in oak before release.
Tasting Profile
A layered bouquet of cherries steeped in spirits, plum jam, figs, chocolate and sweet spice. Full bodied and powerful, with velvety tannins and remarkable elegance. Around 16% ABV.
Food Pairing
Braised red meats, lamb, game, mushroom dishes and hard aged cheeses.
