Origin
Masianco comes from Masi's vineyards in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in northeastern Italy, under the Pinot Grigio delle Venezie DOC. The soils are calcareous and clayey, which gives the wine freshness and a clean mineral line.
Blend
Pinot Grigio with a small portion of Verduzzo, a native Friulian white grape.
Vinification & Aging
The Verduzzo grapes are lightly dried using Masi's signature Appassimento technique to concentrate sugars and aromas. The Pinot Grigio is fermented separately in stainless steel to keep its freshness. The two are blended and rested briefly in stainless steel before bottling.
Tasting Profile
Golden yellow in the glass, with aromas of citrus, white flowers and honey. The palate is medium bodied with lemon, peach and apricot, finishing dry with extra depth from the semi dried Verduzzo.
Food Pairing
Aperitivo, appetizers, fish, white meats, light pastas and fresh salads. Serve chilled at 46 to 50°F.
Why Choose
A Pinot Grigio with more texture and personality than most, made by the house that defined Appassimento.
Wine & Sense Insight
This is the perfect way to understand Appassimento before moving on to Amarone: the same technique that gives Costasera its power adds a gentle roundness to this fresh white.
